Architecture Exchange: How is Architecture Political?
Featuring leading theorists in the field, the symposium demonstrated the vital importance of architecture’s political dimension
How is architecture political? That was the question being asked at the Architecture Exchange’s second annual symposium, this year held at the Architectural Association. The respondents, each of whom made a half-hour presentation on the subject, included Reinhold Martin (Director of the Buell Center in New York), Pier Vittorio Aureli (cofounder of Dogma and teacher at the AA), Ines Weizman (specialist in Soviet-era dissident architecture) and Sarah Whiting (Dean of Rice Architecture School, Houston). However, the star of the event was undoubtedly Chantal Mouffe, one of the world’s leading political theorists (as demonstrated by book titles like Agonistics: Thinking the World Politically, On the Political and The Return of the Political).

A symposium organized by the History and Theory Program, School of Architecture, McGill Universityand hosted at Benaki Museum in Athens, Greece under the auspices of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture
PROGRAM
Τuesday 16th June 2015 :
The symposium will start with a round-table conversation on the subject matter, run by Professor Alberto Pérez-Gómez, founding director of the History and Theory Program of the School of Architecture (McGill University), Angeliki Sioli and Yoonchun Jung. The conversation’s main interlocutors, Caroline Dionne, Phoebe Giannisi, Klaske Havik, Mari Lending, Franco Pisani and David Spurr will offer their own insights on the topic, raise and answer questions and open up a dialogue with the attendants. Doing justice to a symposium’s very meaning, a convivial dinner will conclude the event’s first day.
Two days of paper sessions chaired by the six guests will follow, in which all the participants will talk about their work in detail, discuss their points of view and exchange ideas.

σας προσκαλούμε στην Έκθεση: Φιλοσοφικά Αντικείμενα” [1ος κύκλος]
που διοργανώνει το Εργαστήριο Έρευνας στην Πρακτική και Εφαρμοσμένη Φιλοσοφία του Tμήματος Επιστημών Προσχολικής Αγωγής και Εκπαιδευτικού Σχεδιασμού / Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου σε συνεργασία με το Εργαστήριο Tέχνης / Aρχιτεκτονικής στη Δημόσια Σφαίρα του Τμήματος Αρχιτεκτόνων του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών και το Laboratoire de Recherche Education Cultures et Politiques, Université de Lumière Lyon2.
Το project αφορά στην οργάνωση εκθεσιακού γεγονότος από τους/τις φοιτητές/τριες, το οποίο θα συνίσταται στην παρουσίαση ιδεών/έργων τους σχετικά με τη δημιουργία/κατασκευή/εφεύρεση νέων αντικειμένων ή με την επιλογή ή το μετασχηματισμό ήδη υπαρχόντων αντικειμένων, τα οποία θα ορίζονται/αναδεικνύονται ως «φιλοσοφικά αντικείμενα». Πρόκειται για ένα παιδαγωγικό-μυητικό/ερευνητικό σχέδιο, με απώτερο στόχο μία ορισμένη ευαισθητοποίηση των συμμετεχόντων στην αναγνώριση και τον προσδιορισμό του φιλοσοφικού στοιχείου. Το ερευνητικό ερώτημα στο οποίο παραπέμπει το εγχείρημα, είναι διττό και αφορά στον προσδιορισμό αφενός της έννοιας του αντικειμένου και αφετέρου της φιλοσοφικής του ποιότητας ή αλλιώς στη δυνατότητα και τους τρόπους ενός αντικείμενου να οριστεί/κατανοηθεί ως φιλοσοφικό αλλά και στη δυνατότητα του φιλοσοφικού να συναρτηθεί με την έννοια και τους τρόπους του αντικειμένου. Στo project ενσωματώνεται, ως βασική του διάσταση, η καταγραφή της ερευνητικής διαδρομής των φοιτητών/τριών από τη σύλληψη στη διερεύνηση, από τον αναστοχασμό και την ανταλλαγή σχολίων μέσα στην ομάδα στο σχεδιασμό και από την υλοποίηση στην παρουσίαση/έκθεση. Στη διάρκεια αυτή αναδεικνύεται και ερευνάται σε ένα βαθμό η σχέση της φιλοσοφίας με την έννοια της κατασκευής, της παραστατικότητας και της επιτέλεσης (performance) συνδέοντας έτσι το εγχείρημα με μορφές τέχνης και λόγου. Ο στόχος της έκθεσης των «αντικειμένων» δεν προεξοφλεί, ούτε η τελική έκθεση των αντικειμένων δεν επικυρώνει μια καταφατική τοποθέτηση έναντι των αφετηριακών ερευνητικών ερωτημάτων.
Η ομάδα εργασίας του Τμήματός μας συμμετείχε στο project διερευνώντας τα ερωτήματα περί φιλοσοφικού αντικειμένου σε χωρικές αναπαραστάσεις, κατασκευές και δράσεις που ανέπτυξε κατά τη διάρκεια των εργασιών.

ΕΡΓΑΣΤΗΡΙΟ SOUNDCHECK – 24-25-26 ΑΠΡΙΛΙΟΥ 2015
εργαστήριο Soundcheck
Το Εργαστήριο τέχνης/αρχιτεκτονικής στη δημόσια σφαίρα συμμετέχει στην έκθεση Soundacts http://www.soundacts.com/ στις 24-25-26 Απριλίου (με θεματικές «ήχος, μουσική, ταυτότητα, φύλο, ακτιβισμός») οργανώνοντας το εργαστήριο Soundcheck.
Το κεντρικό ερώτημα που έθεσε το εργαστήριο είναι: «Μπορούμε να κατανοήσουμε πως κατασκευάζεται και ανακατασκευάζεται το φύλο και η έμφυλη διαφορά στο χώρο, ακούγοντας;» Το εργαστήριο κινείται σε συγκεκριμένους τόπους της Πάτρας (χείμαρρος Διακονιάρης, περιοχή του λιμανιού, παραλιακή) και της ελληνικής επαρχίας την περίοδο των εορτών του Πάσχα, καταγράφοντας ή παράγοντας, με σενάρια λήψεων, ηχητικά αποσπάσματα που παραπέμπουν σε καθημερινές [ή έκτακτες] τελετουργίες που προδίδουν τη διαρκή (ανα)κατασκευή του «κοινωνικού φύλου» (gender) όσων δρουν μέσα στο χώρο. Οι τοπικές αυτές διερευνήσεις συζητούνται και διαμορφώνονται σε ένα βίκι-αρχείο, οργανώνοντας τα ηχητικά αποσπάσματα σε ένα νέο συγχρονικό άκουσμα που προβληματοποιεί δεδομένους έμφυλους ρόλους και ταυτοτήτες στο δημόσιο χώρο.
